Brazilian Judoka Sarah Menezes Takes Gold at 48kg

The Olympic Judo events started Saturday as Sarah Menezes made history as the first women ever to win individual gold medal for Brazil.

Menezes  defeated defending Olympic champion Alina Dumitru from Romania after a last minute throw pushed her over the top. At the age of 22, Menezes will hope to defend her title at the Brazil Olympics in 2016.

Éva Csernoviczki (HUN) and Charline Van Snick (BEL) tok home the Bronze.
