After recovering from injury, former Bellator strawweight champ Zoila Gurgel will make her return to the Bellator cage Oct. 26 in Dayton, OH. MMAJunkie.com broke the news Monday.
Gurgel (11-1) has been on a six fight win streak since her loss to Miesha Tate two years ago. After her last fight with Karina Hallinan in March of 2011, Gurgel sustained a torn ACL which sidelined her.
The promotion was targeting #5 Unified ranked flyweight Jessica Eye for the opponent, but Gurgel confirmed with Wombat Sports that Eye will not be her opponent.
The match has yet to be announced as a main card or preliminary bout, but either way, it will be streamed on Spike.com or broadcast on MTV2.
This is the second flyweight bout announced in the past week by Bellator, as #6 ranked Munah Holland and Michelle Ould was announced for Sept. 28. The matches will serve as qualifiers for the upcoming flyweight tournament in the spring of 2013.
