Zingano
Nunes
One of the best BJJ practioners in WMMA is making the move up to bantamweight; and will do so in Strikeforce.
The promotion announced this week that Cat Zingano has signed on to fight Amanda Nunes in Sacramento, which will either air on Showtime or ShoExtreme Setember 29.
Zinagno (6-0) has spent most of her career at flyweight, getting wins over top 5 ranked Barb Honchak; as well as notable wins over Takayo Hashi and Carina Damm. Although she has a black belt in BJJ, her past three wins were by TKOs.
She is coming back after a year’s absence, and making the move up in weight.
#8 ranked Nunes (7-2) is coming off a first round submission over Raquel Pa’aluhi, and was on a six fight win streak before her loss to Alexis Davis.
No announcement yet if the match will be on the preliminary card on ShoExtreme or the main card on Showtime Sept. 29.
