Wombat Sports: How did you get started in MMA?

Lynae Lovato: I got started in mma in 2009 when my brother encouraged me to go try some cardio kickboxing classes after I had my daughter. I grew up around wrestling my whole life but did not compete in highschool.

Wombat: You have gone the distance in your last two matches. Have you learned a lot going into deep water?

Lovato: Going the distance has definietely taught me a lot of things especially how important conditioning is to the sport and it is also a huge mental test a lot of fighters battle. I am now always trained menatlly and physically to go the distance every fight.

W.S.: You have been fighting one match a year. Is it the fact that those opportunities weren’t there or another reason? Do you feel that more opportunities await you after the match?

L.L.: I haven’t got any other offers I even opened my weight bracket to competeing from 105 to 120 and have got calls to do short notice fights and said yes, I’ll do it and had the other fighters back out so it has not been by decision it has just been very hard from me to find fights.

W.S.:  New Mexico has a rich tradition of fighting in both boxing and MMA. Do you feel that you are more of a striker or a ground specialist?

L.L.: I definetly would say that everyone will say im more of a wrestler but my striking is improving by the day as I have several great stand up coaches working with me daily.

W.S.:  Any certain things you are focusing on to make you a more complete fighter?

L.L.:  I work every aspect of fighting that can be used in mma as much as possible I never focus on one area my goal is to be the best well rounded fighter I can be and not show any weakness in any aspect of MMA.

W.S.:  What do you know about your opponent Emily Peters-Kagan?

L.L.: I know my opponent has more experience than I have in the cage and has some great training partners at Jacksons.

W.S.:  Anyone you’d like to thank?

L.L.: My Team at Lovato Total fitness all my coaches Lenny Lovato Sr., Lenny Lovato JR. Hector Munoz, Eric Wong, Moses Santiago.
