Zingano and Nunes to Receive Pay for Cancelled Fight

Zingano

Strikeforce announced Tuesday that it plans on paying those fighters who were supposed to fight this weekend in Sacramento.

Showtime refused to air the event after Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez injured his elbow and had to bow out. This left over a dozen fighters, including Amanda Nunes and Cat Zingano, training for a match that wouldn’t happen.

Strikeforce wasn’t contractually obligated to pay the fighters for the cancelled event, but felt that it was necessary.

No word on if Zingano vs. Nunes will be rescheduled.
