Herrig and Gutierez
In what has become a grudge match, former friends Michele Gutierrez and Felice Herrig will duke it out for the second time at Bellator 84 in Hammond, IN on Dec. 14. Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney announced the match Friday.
Herrig and Gutierrez fought in 2009 with Herrig getting the armbar submission win. Soon after both had the same management company and were the first two female fighters to be captured for a MMA video game. The two were friends up to 2011, when an unknown incident (both refuse to talk about it) put a rift between the two friends.
Herrig (7-4) will be returning to Bellator after a two year absence, getting a decision victory over Jessica Rakoczy in 201o. She has won seven of her last nine fights; with a 3-1 record at strawweight.
Gutierrez (3-3) is hoping to snap a two fight win streak, have lost recent to Sarah Maloy at InvictaFC 1. This will be her debut in the strawweight division.
The fight will air on MTV2 Dec. 14.
