Megumi Fujii in Talks for Retirement Match in Japan

A legend is preparing to hang up her gloves.

Megumi Fujii, who is the pioneer in women’s MMA in Japan and is considered to be by most as the greatest fighter of the past decade, is in talks  with DREAM MMA to have her final match on New Years Eve, according to an article on MMAFighting.com. The event is the biggest of the year in Japan; one that Fujii participated in this past New Years. Her match with Karla Benitez was the first female match on a DREAM card.

Fujii has been wanting to retire for the past few years to start a family and help bolster the sport from the sidelines. Her legacy will continue through her many proteges and the inspiration she has given to many fighters.

No opponent has not been found as of yet. The DREAM MMA card will air on AXSTV New Years Eve.
