Three major fighting matches happened this weekend that has made some changes in where their respective divisions are heading coming into 2013.
Holly Holm control a most of the rounds when she took on Diana Prazak in a match for the IBA and WBF titles. It was the jab that made the difference as all three judges scored a perfect 100-90 for Holm.
The undercard saw Mary McGee get a forth round TKO over Victoria Cisneros, putting her in contention for Holm’s belts. Cecilia Brækhus has also threw her hat into the ring to face Holm.
At Bellator MMA, Jessica Eye had the biggest win of her career, defeating former Bellator tournament champ Zoila Gurgel in only 58 seconds. Eye (9-1) was aggressive early dropping Gurgel on her butt, but Gurgel recovered. In the clinch, Eye locked in a head triangle choke and kept the pressure on until Gugel passed out. This is Eye’s 6th straight victory.

Stephanie Eggink looked great at 115 pounds in a fight of the night match against Heather Clark at XFC. Clark showed some good striking in round 1, but was taken down late in the first round. Eggink went for plenty of submission in round 2, having Clark on the defensive. Round 3 went back to the feet with Eggink doing some damage. In the end, Eggink got the unanimous decision win. Eggink called out Felice Herrig, who is now exclusively signed to Bellator. You can watch the fight here.
In other matches Friday, Julia Berezikova made it 6 in a row as she defeated Karla Benitez at Super Fight League in India. After several arm bar attempts in round 1, Berezikova secured it in round 2. This puts her as a top contender for the future SFL 125 title.
In Brazil, Kinberly Novaes defeated Anne Karoline by split decsion at Iron Fight Combat; while a scheduled match between Anna Hyvarinen and Belinda Sedgwick due to a rib injury to Sedgwick the day before the event.
Saturday saw Amanda Lucas win her forth straight fight, getting a unanimous decision over Yuiga at DEEP MMA in Tokyo, Japan. Lucas weighed in at 151.36 pounds (without cutting) and is about ready to make the drop to 145.
