Weekend Results: Andrade Earns First UFC Win; Garbatt Takes WIBA Strap

Jessica Andrade proved her worth with a unanimous decision win over Rosi Sexton this past weekend at the UFC Fight Night card in Machester, England.

Andrade outstruck Sexton in all the rounds, looking like a mini version of Cyborg. Sexton would tough it out for all three round, but it was a clear decision for Andrade. Sexton stated she is okay post fight, with many of the injuries just superficial. Andrade gets her first UFC win, with Sexton losing her second.

Patricia Vidonic gets a huge win this past weekend,  defeating #9 ranked Mei Yamaguchi by split decision in an action packed match at PXC in Guam.

Vidonoic (now 9-6) controlled most of the first round with her striking and ground work, but Vidonic would rally back in the second, getting a slick back suplex and a rear naked choke attempt. Vidonic would continue to work submissions until the bell.

The third round became a war on the feet, with Vidonic getting the upper hand. Yamaguchi got the takedown later in the round, but Vidonic continued to work on submissions. Yamaguchi would get some ground and pound before the final bell.

Vidonic would take the split decision.

The Warriors for Heroes MMA event in St. Louis, MO had two female bouts over the weekend.

Gina Begley would win the flyweight title as she defeated Hannah McNitt by rear naked choke in round 2. She improves to 4-2.

Stephanie Alba defeated Bobbie Beddard by TKO round 2 in an atomweight contest. She improves to 5-2.


In other amateur MMA action:

  • At NorCal Combat in Orland, CA, Autumn Norton defeated Bryanna Fissori by guillotine choke 0:55 round 3
  • Blair Patton got the rear naked choke submission1 over Krystal McGuire in round 1 to win the Blackout FC flyweight title in Carthage, MO
  • In Minneapolis, MN at King of the Cage, Calie Cutler defeated Hope Sanftner by TKO round 2
  • Jianna Denizard defeated Venessa Grimes by unanimous decision at SPAMMA 7 in Lubbock, Texas



Lindsay Garbatt got a solid win this past weekend, earning the vacant WIBA featherweight title over Jackie Trivilino by majority decision in Albany, NY.

In what was a thrilling back and forth match which could have went either way, two judges saw it for the Canadian Garbatt, who gains her second world title in a second weight class. She improves to 8-6-2.

In Toluca, México, Ibeth Zamora Silva retained her WBC light flyweight title with an unanimous decision win over Ava Knight. Silva was dominant throughout Knight only winning three rounds.

Sindy Amador wins the vacant IFBA Junior Flyweight title with her win over Amaris Quintana by unanimous decision in Temecula, CA in a rematch. Amador (now 11-1) came back from her first loss of her pro career and defeated Quintana for the second time.

  • GBC super bantamweight champ Elina Tissen retained her title and gained the vacant GBU super bantamweight title by defeating Fleis Djendji by unaimous decision in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany
  • Marcela Eliana Acuna win the vacant WBO super bantamweight title by defeatring Halanna Dos Santos by points in Salto, Uruguay
  • In Buenos Aires, Argentina, Fernanda Soledad Alegre defeated Maria Angelica Ruiz by unanimous decision
  • Carolina Arias defeated Alys Sanchez by split decision in San Jose, Costa Rica
  • In a pair of bouts in Hérault, France, Angelique Duchemin defeated Claudia Ferenci unanimous decision, and Sylvain Chapelle defeated Elemir Rafael by unanimous decision
