The night before “The Ultimate Fighter” finale, one of Team Rousey’s assistant coaches will be in action at Tuff-n-uff.
World class judoka Marina Shafir will step into the cage for the 4th time (second time at Tuff-n-uff) against Tabby Patterson on November 29 in Las Vegas. The fight will be Shafir’s debut at featherweight.
Shafir can be seen beside her long time friend and teammate UFC champion Ronda Rousey on “The Ultimate Fighter” on Fox Sports 1, and has found early success as an amateur fighter. Just like the champ, Shafir has been armbaring her way through opponents, having yet to see the second round. Her most recent win came in just 59 second over Danielle Mack at Tuff-n-uff in March.
Kansas’s Patterson (3-1) has seen success in her past two fights, getting a first TKO victory over Natalie Jones in October. This will be her first time fighting out of her home state and her toughest opponent to date.
The match joins the previously announced 145 title fight between Jessica Zomcik and Shannon Reid.
Update: A third female bout has been announced as Kyra Batara will face Cheyanne Vlismas in a battle for the 105 title. Batara (3-1) is coming off a 110 title win over Shasta McMurry in August at Tuff-n-uff. Vlismas (3-1-1) is coming off a first round armbar submission win over Lisa Anistario this past weekend in Tampa.
The event will also pay tribute to Tuff-n-uff president and co-founder Barry Meyer, who tragically died last month. The organization will be honoring Meyer with the title of “Chairman Emeritus” and will show a special video tribute.
The card will take place on November 29th at the Orleans arena in Las Vegas, NV. The event will also be live streamed on Tuff-n-uff’s UStream channel for $5.
