Weekend results

WMC 57 kg World champ Caley Reece successfully defended her belt this past weekend against  Chommanee Sor. Tehhiran in Australia. Reece outpointed Tehhiran for the win.



We have a lot of news coming out of Lion Fights, which will air on AXS TV in the U.S. March 28.

Michele Gutierrez has had to bow out of her fight with Larissa Freitas due to Gutierrez learning this week she is pregnant. No word on a replacement.

Cyborg Justino was drug tested on February 25th and the results came back this week negative. This paves the way for her title fight with Jorina Baars.

The card has added two amateur bouts. Renee Rosa will take on Khrystal Khorge, and Christine Ferea faces Ashley Muenz. Neither of these fights will be televised.


April 5th at the O2 Arena in London, England, Swedish kickboxer Pernilla Johansson will make her long awaited return to the ring as she faces Annabelle Gely in a K-1 rules bout.

Johansson started in Tae Kwan Do and was European champion before making he transition to Muay Thai. She won multiple world title tournaments in 2006. She has been in a two year hiatus from the sport.

Gely (12-1-1) only tasted defeat once in her pro career and is also coming off a long absence from the sport. She is a former British and European champion.

No word on if this will stream.


Sandee, a supplier of some of the top Muat Thai equipment, announced they have started “Sandee Academy”, a program that will help grow some of the best junior Muay Thai talent. Besides helping with training and equipment, Sandee is hoping the fighters will be good representatives of the sport to help gain more fans and possible fighters.

Five fighters were announced with two being female.

  • 12 year old Chantelle Tippett is out of Chaos Thai Boxing under the tutelage of current pro Christi Brereton. We featured her in our Future Stars column last June.
  • 15 year old Dakota Ditcheva is the daughter of retired boxing and Muay Thai fighter Lisa Howarth and a two time Junior World champion in Muay Thai. We will feature her soon on the Future Stars column.

battle of the bay 2 mar 2014—–

408 Fights will have a huge event next weekend in San Jose. The event will feature both Muay Thai and MMA bouts.

Around a dozen female fighters will be fighting including the Monroe Sisters, who we have featured on our Future Stars column.

We will have more info next week on match pairings.


Rising amateur MMA star Rach Wiley is going to make her Muay Thai debut as she faces Jessica Middleton at Dangerfire Promotions in Topeka, KS. The fight will be under amateur rules.


Three fights are set for April 6 in Stockport, England

  • Sanne Strabbing faces Laura Braugh for the Euro 53kg B-class title
  • Sofia Christolodou vs. Magda Wiszynski
  • Tanya Merrit vs. Maritzarda Hersisia


Weekend Fights

Judgement-Day-21Teen prodigy Lauren Huxley will look to gain another title as she faces Vicky Church  for the 62kg British championship in England. .

Huxley (5-1 Muay) is coming off back to back wins and her only loss was via split decision.

Chruch (3-0-2 Muay Thai) has held numerous Tae Kwan Do titles and has made a successful transition to Muay Thai. She has mainly been fighting under K-1 rules recently and is looking to return to her success at Muay Thai.

Also on the card Lion Fight vet Lucy Payne will take on Victoria Lomax.


Three female bouts are set for the Fight 4 Life card in Prato, Italy.

  • Paola Cappucci vs. Michela Socci
  • Linda Mannuchi vs. Eleonora Sponchoa
  • Emily Wahby vs. Irene Martens


In other fights this weekend:
