We are previewing InvictaFC 8 which will emanate from Kansas City Municipal Auditorium September 6, and will stream on UFC Fight Pass.
Check out Wombat Sports as we will give you continuing coverage live on location.
The main event sees the return of Michelle Waterson taking on Japanese sensation Yasuko Tamada.
Michelle Waterson (11-3): Undefeated since 2010, Waterson won the title last year over TUF 20 competitor Jessica Penne. She trains at Jackson/Winkeljohn MMA.
Yasuko Tamada (15-8-3): After dropping four straight, the nine year vet has won three. She has yet to be finished. She trains at ADCC with MMA legend Megumi Fujii.
Waterson is the face of InvictaFC now and one of only two title holders currently in the promotion. Being her first title defense, Waterson is looking to cement her position as the best 105er in the world.
Tamada will make her first trip over the pond and wants to upset and win the belt for her home country.
What to expect:
Waterson stated in multiple interviews she wants to keep it standing. Tamada is a pressure fighter on the ground. We should expect this to go the distance with Waterson favored to get the judge’s nod.
