The UFC’s current streak of strawweight bookings continues in June.
Monday night, two bouts with three TUF 20 vets were announced. Tecia Torres looks to stay undefeated as she takes on Angela Hill in Mexico City June 13th at UFC 188, and Rose Namajunas looks to get back in the win column against Nina Ansaroff May 23rd at UFC 187 in Vegas.
Torres (5-0) defeated four UFC fighters in her past 4 fights; three in Invicta. In the TUF 20 tournament. Torres would lose to Randa Markos in the opening round, but would re-enter the tournament defeating Bec Rawlings. Torres would lose to champion Carla Esparza in the quarterfinals. Torres would win her UFC debut defeating Angela Magaña.
Hill (2-0) Made her MMA debut last year, having an extensive Muay Thai career. Hill would lose in the opening round of the TUF 20 tournament, but had a great performance over Emily Kagan in her UFC debut.
Namajunas (2-2) was undefeated as an amateur before winning back to back in Invicta. Her submission of Kathina Catron made headlines as the fastest submission in the womens’ divisions history. She would lose to Torres in Invitca before entering the TUF 20 house, where she lost in the finals to champion Carla Esparza.
Ansaroff (6-4) went on a five fight win streak before deciding to drop to 115 and join the UFC. She would lose to Juliana Lima in Ansaroff’s UFC debut.
No word on if Torres versus Hill will be on Fox Sports 1 or on the pay-per-view card. Namajunas versus Ansaroff will most likely air on Fox Sports 1.
