The strawweight division remains active as two exciting matches have been announced Wednesday.
Paige VanZant looks to continues her run as she takes on a surging Alex Chambers at UFC 191 September 5th in Vegas. Both fighters defeated Kailin Curran during their promotional run. Van Zant (5-1) defeated Felice Herrig in April, while Chambers (5-2) has lost her promotional debut before the win over Curran. The match will most likely headline the UFC 191 prelims on Fox Sports 1.
Undefeated Ukrainian Maryna Moroz (6-0) looks to cement her case for a title shot with a win over Canada’s Valerie Létourneau (7-3) in Saskatoon, Canada August 23. The match will air on Fox Sports 1.
Moroz stunned the world with her win over Joanne Calderwood this past April. She has finished all of her opponents with five of them by submission.
Letourneau has won three straight, including her strawweight debut last April over fellow Canadian Jessica Rakoczy. She trains at American Top team with fellow UFC 115ers Jessica Aguilar and Tecia Torres.
In other strawweight news, champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk could be out six months due to a broken thumb in her match with Jessica Penne.
