Kings University “Queens” of Wrestling for Third Straight Year

IMG_0859_RotatorIn what has become a dynasty in women’s collegiate wrestling, King’s University rolled to their third national team title, defeating  Oklahoma City University by 17.5 points.

King’s three individual champions, sophomore Marina Doi (101), senior Samantha Klingel (116) and junior Forrest Molinari (155), were first time winners.

OKCU’s Cody Pfau successfully defended her 101 pound title from last year, defeating Breonnah Neal of King. Pfau also took home  Outstanding Wrestler for the Year and the Outstanding Wrestler for the Tournament. She is looking to qualify for the U.S. Olympic team in April.

Other returning champions; Campbellsville sophomore Kayla Miracle (136), Lindenwood’s Victoria Francis (170), and Campbellsville junior Tiara Scott (191) also defended their belts.

One to look out for in the future is freshman Becka Leathers (123 champion).

The top 3 spots in each division are invited to the Team USA Team trials in Iowa City, April 9-10.
