With the first quarter of the year already past us, it seems to be a frantic one.
Come April 1, we will have had 36 countries having at least one female professional MMA bout. This includes all of North America and a good portion of South America.
The biggest leap has been in southeast Asia, where MMA has been growing by leaps and bounds. OneFC can take some credit for expanding the region to female bouts.
Some surprising countries have had female MMA including Lithuania, Argentina, and the Czech Republic. Paraguay held it’s first all female card as well.
We are awaiting the second quarter, which should see this number grow by leaps and bounds. Very few countries had amateur bouts, but that should change stating in April. The International MMA Federation World championship country qualifiers are approaching we should see more color on the map above.
For those interested in the United States as a whole, we will be doing an article next week.
Here is a complete list of countries who held female MMA bouts so far in 2016:
- Czech Republic
- South Africa
- South Korea
- United States
