Grasso vs. Esquibel Among InvictaFC 18 Additions

After months of waiting, InvictaFC announced their 18th card for the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri July 29th.

In a first, no titles will be defended on the card as the main event features Alexa Grasso taking on a returning Jodie Esquibel in a battle of top strawweights. Grasso has been 7-0 in her MMA career, but hasn’t fought since February of last year due to injuries and illnesses. Having been given a title shot before, she needs a good win to regain her spot.

Standing in her way is a game Esquibel, who is coming off a close match on the Ultimate Fighter season 23. She is officially 7-1 on the record books and is not only looking to get a title match, but a run in the UFC.

The fight is currently set for three 5 minute rounds.

The co-main event features a match which will determine a top contender for Tonya Evinger’s bantamweight title. Undefeated Talia Santos makes her InvictaFC debut as she takes on a returning Irene Aldana. Santos (13-0) has taken three years to run through the bantamweight division in Brazil. With 11 wins coming by stoppage, she has an argument to face Evinger next with a win.

Aldana (6-2) is coming off a win over Jessamyn Duke in her last outing, and is looking to gain a rematch with the champ.

In a battle of the undefeated, Agnieszka Niedzwiedz and Claudia Rey will make their US debuts. Niedzwiedz (7-0) is making return to the cage after a two year absence after starting a family. The 21 year old has been impressive as she has finished in all but one of her wins.

The Brazilian Rey (6-0)  has finished in all her wins and looks to make her mark in a loaded InvictaFC flyweight division.

Cindy Dandois will return to bantamweight as she will face a returning Jessamyn Duke. Dandois (6-2) is coming off a featherweight win over Megan Anderson. She has only lost twice in her career.

Speaking of Anderson, she will return to action taking on a returning Peggy Morgan. Anderson (6-2) is coming off two straight TKO wins after her loss to Dandois. She is looking to climb to featherweight title contention.

Morgan (4-3) is coming off a win over Jesse Miele and is starting to rejuvenate her career at featherweight.

Duke (3-4) is coming off a loss to Aldana in her InvictaFC return to InvictaFC. She was undefeated in her first three bouts at InvictaFC before going 1-4 in the UFC. Duke is looking to rebuild her career in Invicta like fellow InvictaFC vet Angela Hill.

India’s top MMA fighter in the women’s divisions Manjit Kolekar has signed to Invicta, and will fight veteran Lynn Avarez. Kolekar (8-0) has been the pioneer in MMA in India as a part of the Super Fight League with 6 finishes. She is looking to make her country proud as she makes her first US appearance.

Alvarez (6-3) is an eight year vet of the sport and has a win over Michelle Waterson. Her striking has improved as seen in her 2014 bout with Amber Stautzenberger. Alvarez has been battling injures and looks to shake off the ring rust.

Kick off the card are two great bantamweight prospects in Amberlynn Orr and Sijara Eubanks. Orr will make her pro debut after going 10-1 as an amateur. Eubanks is looking to recover from her first loss and will move back up to bantamweight.

More matches are expected to be announced soon.
