Watercooler: Rousey’s Return Date? Cooper vs. Elmose Announced & More


BJPenn.com is reporting Ronda Rousey may return for UFC 207 December 30th in Las Vegas in a title match with champion Amanda Nunes.

UFC President Dana White told the press this week he is very interested now in a fight between Cris “Cyborg” Justino and Ronda Rousey. This is a vast change from hos stance on only holding the fight at 135 for the title.

White also stated not to expect a new women’s division in the UFC anytime soon, but also stated when they do it will be at flyweight. Several UFC fighters have been pushing for 125 over the past six months.

TUF 23 runner-up Amanda Bobby Cooper will return to action as she faces Anna Elmose at UFC Fight Night in Belfast, Ireland November 19th. Elmose will be dropping to 115 after losing her UFC debut at bantamweight. Cooper is looking to get back on the winning track after losing back to back on her official record.

The event will stream on UFC Fight Pass.

Several Brazilian news outlets are reporting the UFC has signed undefeated strawweight Viviane Pereira (12-0). She is the former Bitetti Combat flyweight champion and current XFC International Strawweight champion.


UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby will be in attendance at InvictaFC 19 this weekend. He is taking over head matchmaking duties from Joe Silva as Silva is retiring in the next few weeks.

Julia Budd will face Arlene Blencowe at Bellator 162 in Memphis, Tennessee October 21st.  Budd has won six straight since her loss to Ronda Rousey. Blencowe has won five of her last six fights.

Word is Marloes Conenen will return to action on November 4 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut for Bellator 163.


In what will be a shake-up in the MMA world, Resurrection Fighting Alliance and Legacy Fighting Championships have merged under one banner, Legacy Fighting Alliance. The announcement came by RFA president Ed Soares on the MMA Hour Monday.

The company has signed a five year deal with their home base of AXS TV and look to put on 30 shows a year.

Legacy currently has Andrea Lee as their lone female champion, while RFA’s strawweight title is currently vacant.


Two atomweight matches have been announced for the DEEP JEWELS November 3.

  • Emi Tomimatsu (11-11) hopes to get back in the title hunt facing Tomo Maesawa (6-6).
  • Proverbial ranked atomweight Saori Ishioka (14-9) will face upcoming talent in Mina Kurobe (8-2).

More matches are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

  • InvictaFC star Chris Stanley will face Liz Tracey at SFL/Cage Sport Oct. 22 in Tacoma, Washington. This will stream on the Super Fight League Youtube channel.
  • Lisa Ellis versus Celine Haga has been announced for Global Knockout 8 November 19th in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
  • Coming off her first round win this weekend, Ronni Nanney will now be facing Mandy Polk Oct 1 at V3Fights in Robinsonville, Mississippi.
