Watercooler: Kagan Retires; Invicta & Rizin Add Matches

Two additional matches will round out the InvictaFC 22 card March 25th in Kansas City.

Ashley Cummins will be making her way back to the InvictaFC cage taking on friomer title challenger Amber Brown in an atomweight bout.

Cummins (4-3) is coming off a submission of the year candidate of Nikki Smith, which broke a three fight losing streak. This will be her first cut to 105 of the St. Louis police after going to a 110 catchweight in her last fight.

Brown (6-3) is returning to atomweight after a loss to Ashley Yoder. She lost in a tuitle but to Ayaka Hamasaki.

The other bout sees a featherweight encounter between Felicia Spencer (1-0) vs. Madison McElhaney (1-0). Spencer won her Invicta debut over Rach Riley at lightweight and will be moving to 145 for this bout.  McElhaney will be making her promotional debut coming off a decision win over  Bryanna Fissori.

The card will stream on UFC Fight Pass March 25th.


Rizin has announce three of its five female bouts for their April 16th card.

  • Coming off a win over Shayna Baszler, Reina Miura will be facing German fighter and pro wrestler Jazzy Gilbert.
  • 2016 IMMAF World and European champion Alexandra Toncheva will make her pro MMA debut against 6-2 Kanna Asakura.
  • Undefeated Swiss fighter Bestare Kicaj (2-0) will face DEEP-JEWELS star Saori Ishioka (14-10).

Rena Kuboto will also be on the card facing a yet to be announced opponent.

UFC vet Emily Peters-Kagan has announced she is hanging up her gloves.

Kagan announced her retirement via facebook. The TUF 20 participant went 3-3 in her pro career with wins over Glena Avila and Ashley Cummins.  She sites a nagging eye injury for her leaving the sport.

We wish Kagan the best in her future.


Seo Hee Ham as signed to RoadFC.

The Korean star lost all but one of her bouts by decision in the UFC. Ham was a fan favotire in the US for her “Fight of the Night performances” and toughness in the cage. Before her release from the UFC, she stated she was interested in returning to her home promotion.

An all female card for RoadFC is set for March 11th, but no word on if Ham would be fighting on the card.


Veronica Macedo is off the UFC London card. They are currently looking for a replacement to face Lina Lansberg.


Paige VanZant is moving to Portland, Oregon to be closer to family.

She will do her day to day training at Gracie Barra Portland, which is the home gym of Bellator star Chael Sonnen. VanZabt lived in the Portland area during her youth before getting bullied and moved to Reno.

No word on if she will do her fight camps still at Team Alpha Male.

VanZant will also be doing some training with InvictaFC champion Cris Cyborg.


Holly Holm’s appeal has been denied by the New York State Athletic Commission.

Holm was appealing her decision loss to featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie due to some late hits in their title match at UFC 208. Her camp is now asking to have a rematch with Randamie.
