Continuing with the weight classes is the quickest growing divisions – flyweight.
Note: Any fights that were above 116 for our purposes are considered flyweight. Any fights 121-124 were rounded up to 125. Any fights 117-119 were rounded up to 120 pounds.
There were 194 total fights at the 125 limit with ten at a 120 catchweight. The total number of flyweight fighters just beats strawweight’s amount by 4 fights.
There were 51 pro debuts with 54 amateur. This is slight more than the strawweights in both categories. A good percentage of amateurs do drop weight classes, so this is a good sign for the 115ers.
Following the trend of the lower weight classes, decisions (46) is the most popular way for a pro flyweight to win followed by submissions (29) and TKO/KOs (25). Amateurs saw 45 decisions, 25 submissions, and 20 TKOs/KOs.
