Wombat Sports, in conjunction with Flairdog Productions, is proud to announce “Girls, Grappling, and Grit” will have its world premiere at the Artemis Film Festival April 28th at 12:40 p.m. at the Monica Film Center, 1332 2nd Street in Santa Monica, California.
Filmmaker MarQ Picoos took a year to document the growth and push to make the women’s and girls’ wrestling accepted in the United States. The project also chronicles the struggles, triumphs, and personal journeys of wrestlers who are looking to inspire and defied the odds; from a tween girls’ program, a high school powerhouse, and the first season of a college team. He also went in depth about the history of the sport with Sally Roberts, founder of “Wrestle Like a Girl”.
Among those he interviewed were Combate Americas star Kyra Batara and InvictaFC vet Jessica Philippus.
For those unable to make the showing, streaming is in the works and will have updates as the weeks progress.
