XFC Adds 115 tournament bouts; Silva vs. Santos to September card

Three additional bouts have been added to stacked XFC card in Sao Paulo, Brazil September 19th.

New Zealand’s Kate da Silva will make her promotional debut against Marilia Santos. Silva (9-2) has won four of her last 5 bouts, with 5 submissions to her credit. Santos (4-0) had finished her first three professional fighters and won a razor thin majority decision over Aline Sattelmayer.

The night will also spark another strawweight tournament for the promotion.

Germany’s Sheila Gaff will return to action after a two year absence to take on Antonia Silvaneide Marretinha. Gaff (8-6) will drop for the first time to 115 after losing back to back in the UFC at 135 pounds. Gaff would win three straight at flyweight before entering the UFC. Marretinha (4-2) was the runner-up of the XFC season 2 flyweight tournament. She would lose to Poliana Botelho in the finals.

The other semi-final sees Russia’s Julia Borisova take on Brazil’s Ilara Joanne. Borisova (3-1) lost in the opening round of the XFC season 2 flyweight tournament. She has a noatable win over China’s Jin Tang. Joanna (2-2) has won back to back fights, including an 18 second rear naked choke finish in her last bout.

The three bouts join the flyweight title match between season 1 tournament winner Silvana Juarez and season 2 winner Poliana Botelho.

XFC Signs Gaff, Fryer, and Wennergren


XFC has continued its female roster with several fighters cross the planet.

Sheila Gaff announced Tuesday she has signed with the promotion. The UFC vet also announced she was dropping to strawweight in per promotional debut, which is yet to be determined.

Germany’s Gaff (8-6) had won three straight including a 10 second KO over Jennifer Maia before entering the UFC. Having gone up from flyweight to bantamweight, she lost back to back fights.

Joining Gaff is Australia’s Claire Fryer (4-1) and Sweden’s Linn Wennergren (2-1), both who have back to back wins. Fryer will enter the 3rd season strawweight tournament while Wennergren will be heading for the flyweight grand prix.

No word on when the fighters will make their promotional debuts.
