South Africa Expands WMMA Divisions; Two Fights Forthcoming

South Africa has been a growth market in terms of the women’s MMA divisions, and February will see two matches in the country.

First, EFC has announced they have signed a pro bout between local amateur standout Danella Eliasov and Hungary’s Zita Varju for the promotion’s event February 21 in Carnival City, South Africa. Eliasov had her first MMA match in 2010, and won by armbar in her last match this past November.

Varju (1-1) is coming off an armbar win over Ignácz Melitta in October.

The other match announced sees South African star Santa Marie Venter take on Natalie Rusmer in amateur action at Fight Star in Germaston, South Africa. Venter (1-2) is looking to get back on the winning track after losing back to back decisions. This will be Rusmer’s MMA debut.

No word on if either fight will stream.

  1. Hi there!
Thank you for making the public aware of WMMA… We always appreciate support!
On a different note- that’s not me in the picture 😂 I actually have no idea who she is (maybe my sister from another mother 😉)
Just thought I’d let you know…
    Have an awesome day!

    Santa-Marié Venter
