The WMMA Press Association voted and awarded two awards on Thursday as well.

For the first time in awards history, we have a tie for Promotion of the Year.

With their announcement of add women’s divisions, the UFC has earned the honor along with the last year’s promotional winner InvictaFC.

The UFC broke the glass ceiling this year, introducing the women’s bantamweight division and held their first ever female title match between champion Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche. After one of the most successful “Ultimate Fighter” seasons in recent memory when they quenched fans demands for females on the show; they ended the year signing 11 strawweights that will compete of TUF 20. They had 15 matches total this year.

InvictaFC 3 to Feature Title Match
InvictaFC crowned its first champions this year, starting with Carla Esparza and rounding it out with Lauren Murphy. With only 4 events, they had 45 matches and have had many of their fighters signed to the UFC. Even though they have had their problems with streaming, the organization has seen tremendous fan support.
